ABSTRACT
Purpose To evaluate the potential efficacy and safety of primary intravitreal ranibizumab in patients with symptomatic retinal arterial macroaneurysm (RAM). Methods This prospective study comprised 5 eyes RAM treated ranibizumab. At baseline, all underwent best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) measurement, ophthalmic examination including slit-lamp biomicroscopy, central foveal thickness (CFT) measurement using optical coherence tomography. Fluorescein angiography was also performed to confirm diagnosis. Patients were examined at 1 month after injection monthly thereafter. Main outcome measures included changes BCVA CFT. Safety assessed by report systemic adverse effects. Results There a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) CFT before end follow-up 13.4 ± 3.2 months. One appeared be sufficient for resolution macular edema absorption hemorrhages. No observable ocular or side effects found. patient developed atrophy. Conclusions Intravitreal seems effective safe treatment RAM.
