Applying a One Health Approach in Global Health and Medicine: Enhancing Involvement of Medical Schools and Global Health Centers

ABSTRACT
<strong>Background:</strong> Multidisciplinary and multisectoral approaches such as One Health related concepts (e.g., Planetary Health, EcoHealth) offer opportunities for synergistic expertise to address complex health threats. The connections between humans, animals, the environment necessitate collaboration among sectors comprehensively understand reduce risks consequences on wellbeing. are increasingly emphasized national international plans strategies zoonotic diseases, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, but date, possible applications in clinical practice benefits impacting human largely missing. <strong>Methods:</strong> In 2018 "Application of Approach Global Centers" conference held at Albert Einstein College Medicine convened experts involved policy practice. examined issues relevant approaches, sharing examples challenges successes guide application medical school curricula health. This paper presents a synthesis proceedings, framed around objectives identified from presentations audience feedback. <strong>Findings Recommendations:</strong> following provide involvement schools global centers by: 1) Improving resource education; 2) Creating pathways information flow medicine practice; 3) Developing innovative partnerships improved sector outcomes; 4) Informing empowering through public outreach. These can leverage existing resources deliver value additional settings stakeholders efficiency, more holistic effective service delivery, greater ability manage determinants poor status.
