Assessment of the Timely Administration of Birth Dose Vaccines in Northern Nigeria and Associated Factors

ABSTRACT
Lack of a timely receipt vaccines can cause uncertain immune response and under-vaccination. Hence, vaccination is crucial to ensure an infant's early protection.To identify the age presentation for birth dose vaccines, vaccine antigens received factors associated with by day one in Northern Nigeria.A descriptive cross-sectional study involving 1 952 mother-infant pairs enrolled from 5 different states Nigeria. Data was collected using questionnaire including socio-demographic, antenatal care (ANC), delivery details, dates, received. analysis done SPSS-21 software.The median infants at six (interquartile range 2-16) days. A total 413 (21.2%) were brought (day 0) or next (Day one), while one-fifth (20.6%) presented after Day 28. The most frequently antigen Bacille-Calmette-Guerin 781 (91.2%), oral polio 703 (87.2%), hepatitis B lowest 75.1% (1 565). commonest reasons delayed presentations ill baby (24.7%) mother (21.9%).Factors within post-birth hospital (OR-1.67, 95% CI; 1.28-2.19), firstborn (OR-1.40; 95%CI; 1.02-1.93), Christianity (OR-2.14 1.63-2.81), tertiary education (OR-1.62, 1.05-2.48).Timely administration low Furthermore, some babies do not get required despite presenting due stockout. Strategies neonatal such as suites post-delivery utilizing relatives/fathers take when indisposed are imperative.
