ABSTRACT
The present study compared the effectiveness of brushing and over-the-counter tooth-whitening strips on stain removal. Forty bovine teeth were used. Initial color readings taken, half samples stained with grape juice for 7 days. others used as control. Both control randomly separated into 2 groups (n=10) according to treatment they underwent: whitening times/day 30 minutes days mechanical 1 year using toothpaste. After treatments, new taken results stability (ΔE) changes in coordinates (ΔL, Δa, Δb) statistically analyzed (2-way ANOVA, Bonferroni p<.05). Statistical differences found ΔE, all (p<.05) between groups, major group both treatments. showed greater alteration Δb, being higher bleached teeth, decreasing yellowness. For Δa greatest change, redness, teeth. treatments effective removing stains, tooth proved be a more efficient method stains from that had not been subjected previous staining.
