Patients' Perspectives and Preferences About Medical Photography in Dermatology: A Cross-Sectional Study

ABSTRACT
Objective: With the increasing use of digital medical photography in practice and delivery dermatologic care, concerns regarding patient privacy ethical-legal aspects have been raised. This study aims to assess acceptance perception among Turkish patients attending dermatology clinics. Material Methods: An opinion survey was conducted two tertiary referral hospitals İstanbul adult visiting clinics by completion a 13-question from. Results: A total 357 completed questionnaire, whom dermatologist had recently photographed 42.3%. Patients preferred be with hospital-owned camera (69.5%) compared practitioner's personal (36.1%) or mobile phone (29.1%) (p<0.001). They favored hospital records (70%) over own computer (30.5%) (19.9%) for storage images accepted being their physician more than other healthcare workers Non-identifiable photos were acceptable identifiable ones all purposes photographs, highest rate consultation (75.9%) lowest websites (10.4%). Almost respondents (97.2%) felt informed consent is necessary before photography. Nearly one-third shared concern about misuse unauthorized access photographs. Conclusion: Our revealed that relatively positive attitude toward photography, although they seem clear preferences several practical aspects. These findings could used improve dermatological create policy guidelines
