ABSTRACT
Using a solid-phase extraction followed by direct-injection gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, the concentration of trans-resveratrol was measured in representative selection wines from most prominent wine-producing countries and regions world. With exception Swiss German wines, virtually all white tested had concentrations <0.1 mg/L. Consistently high were Pinot noir, irrespective origin. On other hand, Cabernet Sauvignon covered wide range concentrations, with relatively values those cool-climate such as Ontario Bordeaux region France, whereas warmer climates California, South America, Australia tended to have much lower concentrations. Differences between communes Burgundy noted, Cotes de Nuits having higher than Beaune, Bordeaux, Medoc, St. Emilion, Pomerol found communes. Among regions, Italy, Spain Portugal low line their warm dry climatic conditions, but Rhone Valley where climate is similar The reported this study compared three earlier reports could be due quantitative recovery inherent used present assay, and/ or losses occurring during organic phase latter.
