ABSTRACT

Background and goals
The aim of this work was to study, for the first time, influence foliar application methyl jasmonate (MeJ) plus urea (MeJ+Ur) on Tempranillo grape phenolic composition over two seasons.
Methods key findings
This examined compounds using high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection. In 2019, both treatments increased total anthocyanins, but MeJ+Ur treatment had a stronger effect than MeJ treatment. decreased flavonols, flavanols, hydroxycinnamic acids in grapes, while significantly did not affect flavanols or acids. Neither affected stilbenes. However, 2020, different: acids, stilbenes, flavanol content grapes.
Conclusions significance
season-dependent, which can be explained by differences preharvest rainfall between vintages. season greater that treatments. results offer information about response grapevine under different climate conditions.
