COMPARATIVE OUTCOMES OF EXTRACORPOREAL KNOT-TYING SUTURES VERSUS METALLIC ENDO-CLIPS IN LAPAROSCOPIC APPENDICEAL STUMP CLOSURE FOR ACUTE APPENDICITIS

Acute appendicitis is one of most common indication for emergency surgery and it has a lifetime incidence 7 %. Characteristic presentation acute includes periumbilical pain, nausea, fever right lower quadrant pain tenderness. Appendectomy can be done open by Laparoscopy. Objective: To compare Appendiceal base leakage, mean duration surgery, post-operative hospital stay in extra corporeal knot tying suture versus metallic endo - clips laparoscopic stump closure patients with Methods: In this study, 70 were randomly divided into two groups using the lottery method. Group A consisted 35 whom endo-clips used, while B also included patients, but extracorporeal knotting techniques. The mesoappendix both was LigaSure device, appendix retrieved from abdomen through 10mm port. Results: Out 44 (62.9%) male, 26 (37.1%) female. Socioeconomically, (30.0%) lower-income background, 49 (70.0%) middle-income background. body mass index (BMI) 25.31 1.92 kg/m², 11 (15.7%) classified as obese. Regarding surgical outcomes, significantly shorter A, at 28.89 2.42 minutes, compared B, which had 34.23 1.68 minutes (p<0.001). However, similar groups, having 31.54 6.54 hours 31.37 5.49 (p=0.906), indicating difference. Complications observed only 4 (4.3%) 2.9% 5.7% (p=0.998). Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that appendiceal more efficient than tying. use reduces procedure, thereby saving valuable time team. Additionally, technique associated complications such leakage site infections.
