ABSTRACT
This article summarises work that has been undertaken to compile the New Zealand Strong Motion Database, which is intended be a significant resource for both researchers and practitioners. The database contains 276 earthquakes were recorded by strong motion instruments from GeoNet earlier network operators. events have moment magnitudes ranging 3.5 7.8. A total of 134 these (49%) classified as occurring in overlying crust, with 33 (12%) located on Fiordland subduction interface 7 Hikurangi (3%). 8 (3%) are deemed occurred within subducting Australian Plate at zone, 94 (34%) Pacific zone. There 4,148 uniformly-processed recordings associated earthquakes, acceleration, velocity displacement time-series, Fourier amplitude spectra acceleration response computed. 598 identified being suitable future use time-domain analyses structural response.
