ABSTRACT
To investigate the correlation between sonographic, hysteroscopic, and pathological findings in postmenopausal asymptomatic patients with sonographically thickened endometrium.The records of who attended Menopause Outpatient Clinic a tertiary women's hospital Ankara, Turkey January 1, 2012 December 15, 2013 were retrieved. A total 266 women without vaginal bleeding underwent hysteroscopic evaluation endometrial sampling. Patients whose indicated an thickness equal to or greater than 6 mm (double layer) on transvaginal ultrasonography any symptoms included study.The most frequently detected focal intrauterine lesions polyps, which diagnosed 168 (63.1%) cases. Twenty-four (9%) as having simple hyperplasia, 4 (1%) atypical 8 (3%) adenocarcinoma. Two adenocarcinoma based cases showed hyperplasia hysteroscopy, while histological examination carcinoma.We suggest 10.5 cutoff value for recommend hysteroscopy following dilatation curettage increase diagnostic efficacy provide definitive treatment endometrium.
