ABSTRACT
Introduction: This study investigates the clinical significance of galectin-1 expression in carcinoma tissues, plasma, and lymphocytes patients with clear-cell renal cell (RCC).Methods: Galectin-1 was investigated, using immunohistochemistry, 91 RCC tissue sections, five angioleiolipomas three oncocytomas sections. As controls, normal sections adjacent to each tumour six benign were examined. Plasma galectin- 1 levels as measured by ELISA compared 39 patients. Proportions expressing CD4+ CD8+ T peripheral blood these detected flow cytometry. Results: The positive rate galetin-1 tissues immunohistochemistry 87 (95.6%), weak 35.2 (32/91), moderate 51.6% (47/91), strong 13.2% (12/91); whereas 25% (2/8) showed expression, 91.2% (83/91) non-tumor carcinomas had negative galectin-1, another (75%) expression. between clearcell tumours not significantly difference (p>0.05). In RCC, we found a higher proportion galectin-1-expressing (p<0.05) than tumours. Moreover, level positively associated stage Fuhrman grade RCC.Conclusions: Our results suggest that high may be useful marker for RCC. findings also reveal new — proportions poor clinicopathological features.
