ABSTRACT
Abstract: Introduction: Microsponges provides a proficient drug delivery system for specific in the upper gastrointestinal tract with high loading capability. But formulation is affected by numerous process and design related factors. The intention of current research work was to formulate optimize floating gastroretentive microsponges glipizide, an antidiabetic drug, minimum number experiments, applying appropriate experimental design. Methods: decisive factors affecting were screened Plackett-Burman final optimization performed Box-Behnken In design, Pareto ranking analyses indicated that polymer concentration, stirring speed temperature significantly microsponges. influence these independent variables checked on entrapment efficiency, buoyancy cumulative release (12hr) Results: results showed after desirability criteria looking into overlay plots, GBB-8 medium drug- ratio maximum level other two found be optimum near 1. gave efficiency as 90.81%, 92.3% CDR12 92.3%. Radiographic studies conducted albino rabbits, presence stomach 12hr. Conclusion: It could concluded application helpful tool development glipizide. prepared can offer sustained at its site absorption which may provide better control diabetes due less fluctuation plasma concentration. Key words: Glipizide, Microsponges, Antidiabetic.
