ABSTRACT
The traditional medicine has been used in Indonesia since the days of Ancient Mataram Kingdom (about 12 centuries ago). is rich medicinal plants. For this reason, it necessary to inform broader community regarding plants that have potential as antigout. prevalence gout range 1.6−13.6 per 100,000 people and will increase with age. There are 25 species Indonesian more than 50% xanthine oxidase (XO) enzyme inhibitory activity. XO responsible for catalyzing hypoxanthine then producing uric acid, accompanied by formation reactive oxygen (ROS) during catalysis. magnitude power ranged from 50.00±1.16% 97.53%. lowest was Phaleria macrocarpa, while Orthosiphon aristatus had highest major compounds inhibit flavonoids. structural similarity flavonoids rings A C a substrate causes hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces between XO. It means bind active site, thereby preventing acid. type kinetics occurs competitive inhibition. Five inhibition against Sida rhombifolia, Syzygium polyanthum, Cyperus rotundus, Ruellia tuberosa macrocarpa.
