ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: Copper IUD is a long term and reversible contraception which equals tubal ligation in terms of sterilization. One the barriers to using this method fear pain associated with its insertion. Eutectic mixture local anesthetics (EMLA) 5% anesthetic that contains 25 mg lidocaine prilocaine per gram. Application topical analgesic cream cervix for laser surgery, hysteroscopy hysterosalpingography known Aims: study aimed determine effect EMLA on insertion pain. METHODS: This triple blind clinical trial was conducted 92 women clinic Hamedan 2012. After applying cervix, three steps, after Tenaculum, inserting hystrometr removing tube were assessed visual analog scale compared group placebo Statistical analysis used compare independent t tests, Mann-Whitney U test repeated measures variance chi-square tests homogeneity variables Fisher's exact RESULTS: Insertion determined as most painful The mean at step 2 (inserting hystrometr) (3/11±2/53) group, (5/23±2/31) group. significantly reduced tenaculum (P<0/001), Hystrometr (P< 0/001) CONCLUSIONS: Topical before during procedure.
