ABSTRACT
Aim: A novel device has been developed for measuring the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) as an indicator of arterial stiffness. In this study, we evaluated effect pitavastatin on CAVI in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: Forty-five diabetes mellitus patients with low-density lipoprotein cholesterolemia were enrolled and treated mg/day 12 months. Before after administration, HbA1c, serum lipids, malondialdehyde-LDL (MDA-LDL), urinary 8-hydroxy- 2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) measured. Results: After treatment months, significant decreases 8-OHdG, MDA-LDL observed. ΔCAVI significantly correlated ΔMDA-LDL.Conclusions: patients, may have oxidative stress-reducing effect, especially a state enhanced stress, be useful routine test diagnosis therapeutic monitoring atherosclerosis.
