ABSTRACT
Aim: Both the ankle brachial index (ABI) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) are surrogates for atherosclerosis. In this study, we aimed to evaluate ability of ABI baPWV predict stroke outcome in patients with first-ever non-cardioembolic stroke. Methods: This study included consecutive admitted within 1 week after onset Ota Memorial Hospital between January 2011 December 2013.Baseline characteristics National Institutes Health scale scores at admission were noted.ABI evaluated 5 days admission. The categorized according (cut-off 0.9) 1870 cm/s) determined using receiver operation curve poor outcome.Clinical outcomes defined based on modified Rankin (mRS) 3 months as good (0 1) or (2-6).Results: A total 861 available evaluation.ABI <0.9 >1870 cm/s associated univariate analysis (p<0.001 p<0.001, respectively). After adjusting factors that showed differences groups, was outcome.Among ≥ 0.9, higher a slight association adjustment [odds ratio 1.46 (95% CI 0.95-2.27)]. Conclusion:Our suggests can be predicted an extent when 0.9 stroke.
