Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are important as a public health problem all over the world. There some difficulties in prevention and control programs of STIs due to clinical laboratory diagnostic problems.The most common Chlamydia trachomatis infections, trichomoniasis gonorrhea. The study aimed investigate direct microscopic examination, culture polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests diagnosis Trichomonas vaginalis infection; determine other microbiological agents that may cause vaginal discharge evaluate various social variables women with admitted outpatient clinic Obstetrics Gynecology Akdeniz University Hospital. Two hundred fifteen patients were enrolled study. socio-demographic features recorded. Vaginal/endocervical swab specimens taken from evaluated by examination. Swab inoculated into blood agar, MacConkey agar chocolate for bacterial culture. Modified Trichosel broth 5% horse (Becton Dickinson, USA) was used spp. presence C.trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, T.vaginalis samples investigated multiplex PCR assay (BD Max CT/GC/TV, Becton USA). At least one pathogen detected among 65 (30.3%) samples. examination four 215 (1.9%) patients. Existence yeast morphology observed 21 (9.8%) Twenty (11.2%) diagnosed vaginosis microscopically according Nugent score system. Candida species grew 32 (14.9%) Streptococcus agalactiae 2 (0.9%) specimens. C.trachomatis N.gonorrhoeae 1 (0.5%) sample PCR.
