ABSTRACT
Birmingham, UK, 1990-2010.To identify predictors in contacts for completion of screening and a positive outcome, i.e., diagnosis latent tuberculous infection (LTBI) or active tuberculosis (TB).A retrospective cohort study TB notifications European city.A total 46,158 were identified from 7365 index cases. Over the period 17,471 (40.9%) failed to complete screening. Active LTBI was diagnosed 2220 (7.0%) cases pulmonary (PTB) 222 (2.7%) extra-pulmonary (EPTB). The proportion offered treatment increased (P < 0.001) over period. Age, ethnicity, sex use interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA) most important completion, with working age adult males who Black Indian subcontinent least likely complete. smear positivity status case IGRA usage outcome (active diagnosed).Contact tracing both PTB EPTB is useful finding. findings this can be used target improve effectiveness efficiency local contact programmes.
