ABSTRACT
<title>BACKGROUND</title>Spirometry is the gold standard for diagnosing chronic obstructive respiratory diseases (CORD), but it not widely available in primary healthcare Vietnam. We aimed to validate a simple CORD Screening Questionnaire (CORD-SQ) Vietnamese population screen subjects requiring spirometry.
<title>METHODS</title>In cross-sectional study, 589 volunteers seen unit were submitted CORD-SQ. This questionnaire included four items (cumulative smoking, history of tuberculosis, current breathlessness and wheezing or whistling) with total score ranging from 0 6. The cut-off point CORD-SQ was previously determined as predictor CORD, which last defined by spirometry (forced expiratory volume 1 second/forced vital capacity < lower limit normal) measured each subject.
<title>RESULTS</title>The prevalence 10% among 517 non-asthmatic history. With 2 CORD-SQ, sensitivity specificity 69% 91%, respectively, 46% positive predictive value 94% negative value. area under receiver operating characteristic curve discriminate 0.83 (95% CI 0.75-0.90).
<title>CONCLUSION</title>In health care population, efficiently identifies people at risk spirometry.
.
