ABSTRACT
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is an infrequent type of sarcoma in dogs, representing a small portion sarcomas this species. Considering the rare occurrence tumor, combined with challenges establishing definitive diagnosis, study aimed to discuss clinical, macroscopic, and microscopic aspects neoplasm dog through case report. The patient exhibited lameness right thoracic limb intense pain, even continuous administration analgesics anti-inflammatory drugs. Computed tomography revealed amorphous heterogeneous structure axillary region. Surgical excision intraoperative biopsy were performed, confirming sarcoma. Due malignancy invasiveness which was interwoven within brachial plexus, shoulder disarticulation performed. Macroscopically, irregular, firm, whitish/grayish. Histopathological examination suggested MPNST, characterized by poorly defined arranged bundles, epithelioid elongated cells, pleomorphism, mitosis, necrosis. Postoperatively, continued experience pain proprioceptive deficits pelvic limbs. A follow-up computed scan invading neural foramen first vertebra rib resorption. Given poor prognosis, owner opted for euthanasia. Despite its occurrence, MPNST should be included differential diagnosis orthopedic neurological conditions dogs due importance early surgical intervention improving quality life.
