ABSTRACT
This study reports a case of septicemic colibacillosis in an adult Corriedale sheep from Capão do Leão, Rio Grande do Sul. Before death, the animal showed apathy, weakness, nystagmus, and bruxism. Necropsy revealed multiple abscesses in various organs and septic thrombus in the heart. The presence of E. coli was confirmed by microbiological culture and immunohistochemistry. Although colibacillosis is common in neonates, this case occurred in a healthy adult sheep, highlighting the role of environmental factors. This study emphasizes preventive measures and the importance of early diagnosis to control bacterial infections in livestock.
