ABSTRACT
Frequently repeated statement that energy restriction is a factor improves cardiovascular system function seems to be not fully truth. Low intake modifies the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis activity and thyroid hormone peripheral metabolism. Thyroid hormones, as modulators of expression many cardiomyocyte proteins, control heart function. Decreased levels their disturbanced conversion action result in alternation cardiac remodeling, disorder calcium homeostasis diminish myocardial contractility. This review provides summary current state knowledge about mechanisms effects on thyroidal activity, metabolism target tissues, especially myocytes. We also showed existence restriction-thyroid-heart pathway.
