The Link of Self-Reported Insomnia Symptoms and Sleep Duration with Metabolic Syndrome: A Chinese Population-Based Study

ABSTRACT
The aims of this study are to investigate the relationships metabolic syndrome (MetS) with insomnia symptoms and sleep duration in a Chinese adult population.Data from nationwide epidemiological survey conducted on residents randomly selected districts Taiwan 2007 were used for cross-sectional population-based study. A total 4,197 participants included Insomnia symptoms, including difficulty initiating (DIS), maintaining (DMS), early morning awakening (EMA), assessed using Self-Assessment Inventory questionnaire. Subjects divided into 3 groups based upon their reported (< 7, 7-8, ≥ 9 h per night). Odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) derived multivariable logistic regression evaluate aims.The endorsement DIS DMS cross-sectionally associated MetS after adjustment (OR [95% CI] was 1.24 [1.01-1.51] 1.28 [1.02-1.61], respectively).
