ABSTRACT
Introduction: Cirrhosis of the liver is a progressively worsening condition. Nutritional interventions to improve nutritional status malnourished patients can significantly enhance prognosis. Traditional methods assessment, such as body mass index and waist circumference, are often unreliable. This study aims find out prevalence malnutrition among with cirrhosis in tertiary care centre. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional was conducted hospital from 01 December 2022 May 2023 after obtaining ethical approval Institutional Review Board. Patients at any stage were included study. hepatic encephalopathy, variceal bleeding, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, tuberculosis, chronic renal failure, hepatocellular carcinoma, or malignancy excluded Convenience sampling method used. Data entered into Microsoft Excel 2016 statistical analysis done using IBM SPSS Statistics version 16.0. Point estimate 90%confidence interval calculated. Results: Among 54 cirrhosis, seen 22 (40.74%) [29.77%–51.71%, 90% Confidence Interval] according mid-upper arm muscle 32 (59.26%) triceps skin fold thickness, 36 (66.67%) per hand grip strength. Conclusions: The found be lower than studies similar settings.
