ABSTRACT
Basilar artery occlusion (BAO) secondary to traumatic vertebral (VA) dissection caused by fracture is a rare cause of acute ischemic stroke, and optimal management, such as antithrombotic agents, surgical fixation, parent (PAO), has been controversial. We report case in which mechanical thrombectomy PAO were performed for BAO due right VA transverse foramen the axis vertebra.A patient her 80s suffered from backward fall, neck CT revealed dislocation lateral mass compressed foramen. The was instructed admit remain bed rest; however, she suddenly lost consciousness following day. CTA BAO; therefore, underwent successfully reperfused but stenotic remained. on fifth day after accident prevent recurrence.Mechanical an effective treatment dissection, may contribute prevention stroke recurrence.
