Comprehensive Investigation of Demographic, Clinical, and Paraclinical Findings in Hospitalized Children with COVID-19

ABSTRACT
Background: Given the differing characteristics of COVID-19 in children compared to adults, there is a need for comprehensive investigations associated factors hospitalized children. Objectives: Therefore, we aimed assess demographic, clinical, and paraclinical findings with COVID-19. Methods: This study divided patients aged three months 18 years positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test into two groups: Severe mild cases. Risk factors, including age, sex, weight, place residence, clinical symptoms, lung involvement chest X-rays, laboratory parameters, were between these groups (mild severe). Results: The included 375 (75 severe 300 cases). mean age was 7.50 ± 5.57 months. Among patients, 215 males (58%) enrolled. cases exhibited higher frequency sleepiness (40%) shortness breath (41.3%). Clinical signs such as respiratory rate (35 breaths/min) heart (120 bpm) cases, while blood oxygen levels (92%) lower. also showed radiographs (85.7%). white cell count (8650), neutrophils (6762), lymphocytes (2090) alkaline phosphatase (320.5) Conclusions: Our results highlighted key regarding features COVID-19, offering valuable insights this novel phenomenon. recommends close monitoring symptoms prevent disease progression state.
