ABSTRACT
Forests worldwide are increasingly threatened by a wide range of human-induced socioecological challenges, such as urbanization, invasive species, and climate change. Using automated content analysis, we analyzed 14,855 abstracts published in seven prominent applied forestry journals between 2000 2013 to determine the degree which these publications providing forest managers with information needed address challenges. We found that most articles still focus on more traditional topics (e.g., silviculture timber harvesting), limited evidence effort Although essential management, framing this research within broader context contemporary challenges will improve managers' abilities contribute sustainability ecosystems. Management Policy Implications: impacted many (i.e., stressors, change, others) hinder their ability provide important ecosystem services sustainably. A key role researchers is required potentially serving channel for transfer two parties. Nevertheless, much focuses provides little information/guidance how recommend three ways can meet need while reporting traditionally based research: placing into promoting interdisciplinary thinking through communication findings relate social economic aspects forestry, making sure highlighted ensure its even those readers just scanning an article. These recommendations help communicate still-needed, way helps
