Demographic characteristics of stroke patients in developing countries: Example from Jordanian government hospitals

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to identify for the first time, characteristics stroke patients in Jordan. In retrospective study, case records 1,287 admitted Al-basher Hospital during a three-year period were reviewed. patient cohort included 60% men and 40% women. mean age 59.5±9.7 58.95±10.7 women. Three quarters all were diagnosed as having ischemic strokes 14% haemorrhagic. most common risk factors high blood pressure, diabetes heart disease. present data established important information about Jordanian hospitals. There missing patients’ which made it difficult calculate epidemiological is necessary plan provide better services patients. This has demonstrated need further research explore reasons inadequacies best way fully recording accurate developing countries.
