ABSTRACT
The deep-rooted project culture in construction, e.g. including the one-of-a-kindness of project, production set up, construction site and temporary organization, is stated to be a hindrance when applying lean principles. However, biggest challenge achieving long-term benefit application industrialized housing (80 % work factory environment) here argued approach culture. aim this paper therefore deepen understanding how production. A questionnaire shows that displays based similar found on-site with low motivation for, e.g., error-proofing continuous improvement. Results from case study show workers rather fix problems as they arise ahead focusing on error proofing Lean Construction research has traditionally (up latest years) focused top-down (top-management initiated performance) tool improve projects. theoretical empirical proofs improvement statistically connected worker motivation, follow standardized routines if are visual clear workers. It also shown do not take own responsibility obtain standardization maintenance equipment tools. Therefore simultaneous top-down/bottom-up (person focused) achieve proposed. Generally, points more deeper cultural change construction.
