ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an important and noteworthy health issue worldwide. It especially a problem in Taiwan because of its high prevalence incidence. Metabolic syndrome associated with CKD, but the mechanisms underlying this association have not been determined. In view this, we evaluated relationship between CKD metabolic beyond components characteristics Taiwanese adults aged 40 years above.METHODS: From January 2002 to December 2006, conducted community-based medical screening program Chiayi County 21,619 subjects above. According National Kidney Foundation guidelines, were considered our study if their estimated glomerular filtration rates lower than 60 mL/min per 1.73 m2. Age, gender, syndrome, including body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), triglycerides (TG) potential confounders.RESULTS: Participants significantly more likely those without (29.3% 19.6%, respectively; P < 0.001). Multiple logistic regression models determined that old age, female independent risk factors CKD. The was proportional number components. Compared participants two had 1.407-fold (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.256-1.575; 0.001) increased while three 1.695-fold CI, 1.497-1.919; Higher BMI, HDL-C levels, higher TG levels CKD.CONCLUSIONS: factor for adults. Therefore, effective early detection people required.
