ABSTRACT Theoretical probability distributions are important tools in the estimation of precipitation probable, assisting in the planning of agricultural activities, mainly in the scaling of irrigation systems. Aimed to estimate the monthly and annual precipitation at different levels of probability of occurrence, through theoretical probability distribution Gama, for precipitation data of the municipality of Turiacu-MA. The monthly and annual precipitation probable was obtained for the levels of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 70, 75, 80 and 90% probability. It was obtained, for the rainfall, annual average values of 2175.3 mm, between the levels of 40 and 50%, with a height of 2272.0 and rainfall 2129.6 mm, respectively. For the level of 75%, it was found oscillations in the rainfall of 343.8 mm in the month of March to 1.2 mm for the month of October. According to the test of Chi-square at the 5% level of significance, the probability distribution Gama was adequate to represent the monthly and annual rainfall for the municipality of Turiacu-MA.
