Numerical modelling and full-scale testing of concrete piles under lateral loading

ABSTRACT
Full-scale lateral loading tests were carried out on hollow-pre-cast-pre-stressed concrete piles embedded into the ground. The results from used as basis for analysis where soil was modelled 20-node solid elements; and modelling of comparison done between 3-node beam elements elements. It showed that element pile largely underestimates its capacity. can, however, accurately simulate experimental when interface soil, degradation shear stiffness in cyclic is considered.
