ABSTRACT
Abstract Citizen science, as a process of volunteer participation through crowdsourcing, facilitates the creation mass data sets needed to address subtle and large-scale patterns in complex phenomena. science efforts other field disciplines such biology, geography, astronomy indicate how new web-based interfaces can enhance expand upon archaeologists’ existing platforms engagement schools, community archaeology, site stewardship, professional–avocational partnerships. Archaeological research benefit from citizen paradigm four ways: fieldwork that makes use widely available technologies mobile applications for photography upload; searches large satellite image collections identification monitoring; crowdfunding; crowdsourced computer entry heritage data.
