Colorectal Cancer Patient Characteristics, Treatment and Survival in Oman - a Single Center Study

ABSTRACT
Background: Colorectal cancer is the most common gastrointestinal in Oman with an increasing incidence. We here report presenting features, treatment outcomes and survival a University hospital compare our data regional international studies. Materials Methods: Medical records of patients colorectal were reviewed retrospectively between June 2000 December 2013 followed until 2014. Results: A total 162 diagnosed cancer. The majority males (58.6%), median age 56 years. Rectum was involved 29.6% patients, by ascending sigmoid colon. had stage III (42.6%) IV (32.7%) disease at presentation. K-Ras status checked for 79 41 (51.9%) featured wild type. Median relapse free 22 months. overall all 43 Observed 5 year (OS) stages I, II 100%, 60% respectively. On Log rank univariate analysis, age, BMI, diabetes, hypertension, metformin use, stage, clinical nodal rectal cancer, pathological T status, site metastasis, surgical intervention, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, chemotherapy regimen, no cycles response, RFS, recurrence administration <TEX>$2^{nd}$</TEX> line significant factors affecting OS. Cox regression multivariate analysis none independently affected Conclusions: present advanced young age. rates are comparable to published literature.
