ABSTRACT
In this study the new Regional Geochemical Database (RGDB), called GEOBASI, is presented and illustrated in framework of a joint collaboration among three Tuscan universities (Florence, Pisa Siena), CNR-IGG (Institute Geosciences Earth Resources Pisa), ARPAT (Regional Agency for Environmental Protection), LAMMA (Environmental Modelling Monitoring Laboratory Sustainable Development) Consortium S.I.R.A. (Territorial Informative System Tuscany). The database has permitted construction repository where geochemical information (compositional isotopic) been stored structured way so that it can be available different groups users (e.g. institutional, public private companies). contained fact downloaded freely queried to correlate geochemistry other non compositional variables. first phase project was aimed at promoting use data already from previous investigations through powerful Web-GIS interface implement exploratory statistics graphical-numerical tools used to: 1) analyse spatial variability investigated context, 2) highlight geographic location pertaining classes values or single cases, 3) compare results analytical methodologies applied determination same element and/or chemical species, 4) extract related specific monitoring plans geographical areas, finally 5) recover about below detection limit understand their impact on behaviour variable. Developments will focused definition rules standardized methods external could also interactively pursue RGDB. Furthermore, detailed investigation Scarlino-Follonica plain permit improvement test statistical geostatistical methods, using open source software (QGIS R) support process evaluation baseline.
