ABSTRACT
Despite the usefulness of pterional craniotomy (PC), its cosmetic outcome is questionable. Electrocautery (EC) causes injuries to adjacent structures, and it could be a factor that affects outcome. Evaluation difficult because often determined by patient's subjective criteria. The objective this study compare after EC versus non-electrocautery (NEC) dissection temporalis muscle for PC analyzing long-term follow-up data from both physician aspects.Patients at follow-ups between January 2014 April 2021 PCs were enrolled. keyhole (KH) site, inferior margin temporal line frontal bone (ITL), mid-temporal (mid-T) area, posterior incision (PIL) inspected check presence depressions. Patient's satisfaction was categorized into satisfactory, intermediate, or unsatisfactory survey. osteolysis checked radiological images. Patients classified two groups; one with another NEC retrograde using double-ended dissector. The incidences depression mid-T area higher in group (p=0.001, p<0.001). percentage satisfactory lower (p=0.002). presences related rate outcomes (p<0.001, Conclusions: less destruction structures brings better PC.
