ABSTRACT
Severe weather monitoring and forecasting is the prime task of National Meteorological Services according to World Organization Guidelines (WMO). Since 2009 Bulgarian Institute Meteorology Hydrology (NIMH) issues 48 h ahead severe warnings as a contribution European warning system (METEOALARM). A total 243 days with for heat, thunderstorms intense rain were issued period May-September 2010–2019. The monthly maximum heat 42 in July, it 26 June, 27 June. Objective circulation classification conducted which shows that majority are associated Anticyclonic West flow types. About 40% thunderstorm Cyclone type followed by 28.6% Cyclonic Directional For warnings, most (46.2%) types (27.5%). Analysis Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) derived Integrated Water Vapour (IWV), from station Sofia, consistently higher values METEOALARM rain.
