ABSTRACT
Monocytes are circulating short-lived macrophage precursors that recruited on demand from the blood to sites of inflammation and challenge. In steady state, classical monocytes give rise vasculature-resident cells patrol luminal side endothelium. addition, feed compartments selected organs, including barrier tissues, such as skin intestine, well heart. Monocyte differentiation under conditions has been studied in considerable detail. contrast, monocyte non-inflammatory remains less understood. Here we took advantage a combination cell ablation precursor engraftment investigate generation gut macrophages monocytes. Collectively, identify factors associated with gradual adaptation tissue residency. Moreover, comparison into colon ileum-resident revealed graduated acquisition segment-specific gene expression signatures.
