ABSTRACT
Low birth weight (LBW) is an important risk factor for neonatal and infant mortality morbidity in adults.. How-ever, no large scale study on the prevalence of LBW related maternal factors China has been published. To explore effects term China, we conducted a hospital-based retrospective 55, 633 Chinese pregnancy cases between 2001 2008. Maternal sociodemographic data, history infer-tility contraceptive use were obtained. Their medical status diseases during pre-pregnancy examined by physical examination at first antenatal care visit. before childbirth outcomes, including body weight, gender, multiple congenital anomalies, recorded. Univariate multivariate logistic regression, linear regression used to investigate relationship be-tween LBW. The general incidence was 1.70% developed area China. After preliminary analysis using univariate model, low primary education, anemia, hypertensive disor-ders, placental previa, oligohydramnios premature rupture membrane predicted as independent model. Furthermore, decrease annual frquencies these major causes gradual decline (from 2.43% 1.21% 2008). dem-onstrated that among factors, anemia disorders could contribute even most
