ABSTRACT
In this study, we identify the systematic language varieties and discourse characteristics that are indicative of academic writings Chinese American scientists. We conduct a Contrastive Corpus Analysis using computational tool, Gramulator, to features in science journal abstracts as compared abstracts. The results suggest scientists tend employ different linguistic from their counterparts. Specifically, can be characterized non-standard English by choice three items: agent, tense, two major types reporting verbs. conclude may account for interpretation non-prototypical terms style. This study sheds light on methodology helpful Language Learners well materials developers countries such China.
