ABSTRACT
Bots have emerged from research prototypes to deployable systems due the recent developments in machine learning, natural language processing and understanding techniques. In software engineering, bots range simple automated scripts decision-making autonomous systems. The spectrum of applications engineering is so wide diverse, that a comprehensive overview categorization such needed. Existing works considered selective be analyzed failed provide overall picture. Hence it significant categorize through analyzing why, what how are applied engineering. We approach problem with systematic mapping study based on articles published this topic. This focuses classification used various dimensions characteristics, more frequently researched area, potential spaces explored perception developer community. aims an introduction broad Discussions feedback results several studies interesting insights prospective future directions.
