ABSTRACT
Background Autotoxicity is an intraspecific manifestation of allelopathy in plant species. The specialized metabolites and their derivatives that cause allelopathic inhibition the are known as autotoxic substances. Consequently, substances production seriously affects renewal stability ecological communities. Methods This article systematically summarizes types present different plants. They mainly include phenolic compounds, terpenoids, nitrogenous organic compounds. Phenolic coumarins main many Therefore, we also discuss differences coumarin content among varieties, developmental stages, tissue parts, well mechanisms autotoxicity. In addition, review metabolic pathways involved biosynthesis, key enzymes, genes, transcription factors, factors affecting biosynthesis. Results Coumarin biosynthesis involves three stages: (1) formation nucleus; (2) acylation, hydroxylation, cyclization; (3) structural modification. enzymes nuclear stage PAL, C4H, 4CL, HCT, CAOMT, COSY, F6’H, CCoAOMT1, genes BGA, CYP450 MDR, others. Ortho-hydroxylation a step PS, COSY S8H this process. Finally, UGTs responsible for glycosylation modification coumarins, MaUGT gene may therefore be Conclusion It important to elucidate autotoxicity anabolic create new germplasms produce fewer
