ABSTRACT
Cordycepin is a component of the extract obtained from Cordyceps militaris and has many biological activities, including anti-cancer, anti-metastatic anti-inflammatory effects. Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) degenerative disease that closely related to inflammation nucleus pulposus (NP) cells. The effect cordycepin on NP cells in relation not yet been studied. In our study, we used rat cell culture an intervertebral (IVD) organ model examine inhibitory effects lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced gene expression production matrix degradation enzymes (MMP-3, MMP-13, ADAMTS-4, ADAMTS-5) oxidative stress-associated factors (nitric oxide PGE2). We found protective IVDs against LPS-induced macrophage infiltration. addition, western blot luciferase assay results demonstrated pretreatment with significantly suppressed activation NF-κB pathway. Taken together, research suggest could exert anti-degenerative by inhibiting Therefore, may be potential treatment for IDD future.
