ABSTRACT
Reproductive aspects (spawning season, size and weight at maturity, fecundity) of Octopus hubbsorum are reported for Espíritu Santo Island, southern Gulf California (Mexico). A total 230 octopuses were captured (46% females 54% males) between June 2006 2007. The sex ratio was not significantly different from 1:1 (P > than 0.05) except in November, when more males females. Four sexual maturity stages established both sexes: immature, maturing, mature, prespawning (for females) or spawning males). principal season O. occurred autumn, sea surface temperature ranged 24 to 29 ºC. 390 mm 445 g, respectively, 490 680 mean potential fecundity 205,144 oocytes per female the relative 309 gram body weight.
