ABSTRACT
To review the sonographic features and focused scanning techniques that may assist in preoperative localization of parathyroid adenomas patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. The findings were reviewed 54 58 consecutive pathologically proven adenomas. A systematic approach including real-time gray scale, color power Doppler, graded compression scale imaging was used all patients.Fifty-four (93%) correctly identified by sonography. Gray alone sufficient for identifying 26 (100%) large (> or =1-cm) 3 (11%) 25 small (<1-cm) However, (89%) 28 adenomas, a combination Doppler required identification.Knowledge typical locations characteristic features, as well approach, can result accurate
