ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation and agreement between transvagi-nal transabdominal cervical length measurement after bladder emptying as well feasibility sonography in screening. This a prospective cohort involving 287 participants (14-34 weeks' gestation) from January December 2003. After voiding, transvaginal measurements were obtained. optimal trans-abdominal technique established during an unblinded series (n = 96). same obtained 191 under blinded 2-sonographer protocol. cutoff ensure 100% sensitivity detecting short cervix (<or=2.5 cm) determined. There no difference mean lengths +/- SD (3.57 0.74 versus 3.61 cm; P .20). Pearson coefficient 0.824. 95% tolerance interval for any paired observation (transabdominal minus transvaginal) -0.92 0.84 cm. All 2.5 cm or less associated with 3 less. With sonographic technique, postvoid shows close assessment is useful screening.
