ABSTRACT
Objectives The purpose of this study was to prospectively evaluate the value sonography in working up or ruling out malrotation by 3 sonographic features (inversion superior mesenteric artery and vein, whirlpool sign, an intraperitoneal transverse duodenum) comparing it with upper gastrointestinal (GI) contrast study. Methods A total 70 pediatric patients who underwent detailed abdominal rule intestinal were included. Twenty‐three them also GI Surgery clinical follow‐up taken as reference standard. Statistical analysis performed χ 2 test. Results had a diagnosis surgical findings. With combination all features, sensitivity, specificity, accuracy for determining 100% (23 23), 97.8% (46 47), 98.6% (69 70), respectively, whereas 40% (4 10), 64.3% (9 14), 56.5% (13 23; P < .001). Combined anomalies complications detected sonography. Conclusions By combining inversion duodenum, might be more valuable accurately than In addition, could provide extra information, such combined necrosis, help management.
