ABSTRACT
Both benthic and planktic dinoflagellates can produce harmful algal blooms. However most of the studies conducted so far emphasized on species. In present review, we assessed main ecological factors affecting population dynamics bloomforming dinoflagellates, with particular emphasis Ostreopsis Gambierdiscus. Based basic equation dynamics, mainly focused growth, predation, mortality, immigration dispersion. Factors determining dinoflagellate populations are very different from well-studied case dinoflagellates. The relative movement cells water is difference as depend a fixed substratum while body. Any alteration in will affect populations, for example changes seaweeds concentrations due to predation by sea urchins. We also evaluated impact global bloom occurrence.
