ABSTRACT
Author(s): Raju, Arun; Vu, Alexander | Abstract: Significant electrification of the transportation sector is necessary for State to achieve several important greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and renewable energy targets. The State’s electricity generation transmission capabilities must increase in order meet demand generated by increasing levels fleet electrification. increased demand, combined with Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) targets will require significantly storage that can accommodate while integrating power sources into grid. This project evaluated mid long-term needs electric grid select scenarios. analysis was conducted using Resolve, a systems planning model, RPS 60% 80% 2030 2042 respectively. results show Electrical Energy Storage (EES) capacity requirements depend on number parameters, including Demand Response (DR), Electric Vehicle (EV) charging flexibility, total EV population. EES scenarios range from 3.9 4.3 GW scenarios, 18.5 20.4 GW.View NCST Project Webpage
