Distribution and host data from published literature previously unpublished collection records are provided for all nine species of the Holarctic tick genus Dermacentor that known to occur in Mexico, as well two may there. Parasite-host host-parasite lists presented, together with a gazetteer localities their geographical coordinates.
Variation in leaf morphology is correlated with environmental variables, such as precipitation, temperature and soil composition. Several studies have pointed out that individual plasticity can largely explain the foliar phenotypic differences observed populations due to climatic change suggested environment plays an important role evolution of plant species by selecting for variation. Thus, study help us identify factors potentially influenced process diversification. In this study, we...
ABSTRACT This study examines the distribution of larger foraminifera in an upper Campanian–lower Maastrichtian siliciclastic–carbonate depositional environment within Aren Sandstone Formation. Three assemblages have been identified, which refer to prodelta, reef, and lagoon facies. Prodelta deposits are characterized by Lepidorbitoides socialis, aff. minor, Clypeorbis mammillata, Siderolites cataluniensis. The reef deposit assemblage contains calcitrapoides, cataluniensis, Orbitoides...
Mexico is considered a megadiverse country containing more than 10% of the world's biodiversity. The distribution this species richness and endemism different among Mexican states. We examined patterns 13 families vascular plants (including ferns, gymnosperms angiosperms) in using political divisions (states) as units analysis. analysed values (absolute richness, endemic restrictive richness) these plant stepwise multiple regression analysis, assessing their relationship with set 10...
A checklist of 44 species sucking lice (Insecta: Phthiraptera: Anoplura) recorded in Mexico, belonging to nine genera six families is given, together with a list the 63 Mexican wild mammal hosts which they are associated. Summaries known geographical records and host relationships for each louse presented state. Data were compiled from published original records, including three new locality states Oaxaca Guerrero.
We analyzed the geographical and elevational distributions of two Polypodium complexes from Mexico Central America. Distribution data nine species colpodes complex plesiosorum were obtained almost 1500 herbarium specimens, field collections in Costa Rica, literature studies. The presence each was recorded for Mesoamerican country, 1° × grid-cells biogeographical provinces. rarity also evaluated. Although show extensive overlap, P. is distributed mainly along Pacific versant America, whereas...
Kinorhyncha is a phylum of exclusively marine, meiofaunal invertebrates (Sørensen & Pardos 2008). Currently, the knowledge about worldwide distribution most its species considerably patchy, as several taxa have been reported from single or few localities, usually within limited geographic area 2008; Yamasaki et al. 2018a). This even becomes more evident for deep-sea kinorhynchs, noticed by Sørensen (2018). Given particular value new records to increase our understanding in organisms plus...
Abstract Anthopleura is one of the most speciose genera within family Actiniidae. This genus particularly characterized by its members having both verrucae on column and acrorhagi margin. In region Baja California Peninsula, in Mexican Pacific, six species have been documented, which are relatively well defined their morphological characteristics coloration patterns. During recent visits to intertidal zone Cerritos, Sur, we found individuals displaying a variety colorations that do not agree...
Four new water mite species of the subgenus Arrenurus (Megaluracarus) from lakes and ponds in Mexico are described illustrated: anitahoffmannae sp. nov., A. olmeca maya urbanus nov. With these number known this increases to 21.
Nine species of sea anemones are documented from the west coast Peninsula Baja California. Short descriptions Anthopleura artemisia (Pickering in Dana, 1846), A elegantissima (Brandt, 1835), A. sola Pearse Francis, 2000 and Epiactis prolifera Verrill, 1869 provided, including images external internal anatomy, as well cnidae. In addition, an updated list anemone recorded Mexico, both Pacific Atlantic regions, is provided. The northern E. for first time Mexico. With these new records, number...
Abstract A series of investigations were carried out to test the effects air-gun seismic shooting on main fishery resources Adriatic Sea during summer 1995. The energy source used for trial was formed by one array made up two sub-arrays consisting in 8 air-guns each developing a total volume c.a. 2500 i3 at 2000 psi with an amplitude 60 bar/m. interval between 25 s intensity 210 dB re 1 mPa-m/Hz. Acoustical and spectral analysis performed simultaneously surveyed areas correlate behavior...
A new species, Hyalella tepehuana sp. nov. , is described from Durango state, Mexico, a region where studies on have been few. This species differs most of the North and South American genus in number setae inner plate maxilla 1 2, characters it shares with faxoni Stebbing, 1903. Nevertheless, H. Volcan Barva Costa Rica, lacks dorsal process pereionites 2. Also, this other Mexico by shape palp 1, uropods, telson.
The disturbances on coral reefs increase the competition for space between organisms. This study evaluatedthe effect of algal turfs growth and survival Pocillopora capitata. experimental work was tounite dead branches —colonized by algae— live with in 2 types adhesion —lateral andapical—, seasons —rainy dry— Mexican tropical Pacific. information obtained throughcomparative pictures start end experiment each season. results show that coralbranches did not change significantly despite...
Limnohalacarus cultellatus Viets, 1940 was collected from an anchialine cave (Cenote Bang) in the Ox Bel Ha System located near Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. This species has been recorded Madagascar, Hungary, United States, Antilles and Brazil. The record presented here is first of for Mexico halacarid mite continental waters country. A key to given as well information about variation shown by organisms named under L. cultellatus.
Abstract Meiofauna are an excellent assemblage for studying how environmental changes affect numerous invertebrates. Meiofaunal distribution can be influenced by several key factors which may differ among habitats and could too to evaluate. The Wagner Consag shallow basins located at the northern end of Gulf California. These a young rift system where intense gas discharge has been reported correlated anomalously high heat flow (105 W/m 2 ) temperature (50.2°C in this study). aim study is...
The male and the tritonymph of Ioanella mimon are described for first time parasitizing to Mimon cozumelae from Yucatan, Mexico. Male I. is characterized by presence legs I with tibia tarsus fused forming a small complex devoided apical claws, II–IV two setae vi at level anterior end genital plate, plate rounded an projection, all intercoxal short; while unequal; 2-1-1 posterior region dorsal idiosoma 3 pairs cylindrical toothed setae. Additionally, we include new locality host records...
